The PMD CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) comes packaged in a self-contained basket and consists of one or more of the following instruments:
If this instrument is/was used in a patient with, or suspected of having Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), the instrument cannot be reused and must be incinerated postoperatively, due to the inability to reprocess or sterilize to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination. Consult WHO and local regulations for further information. The surgical instrument must be inspected, cleaned and sterilized before each surgical procedure.
CJD is a rare, degenerative, fatal brain disorder. It affects about one person in every one million per year worldwide.
